IOUK Fellowship 2025-2026
The IOUK Fellowship 2025-2026 will rotate between King's College Hospital, London and University Hospital Southampton for 6 months in each institution, under the expert supervision of Dr Stephen Gregory and Dr Sachin Modi.
The IOUK Fellowship in 2025-26 is held by Dr Nethmee Mallawaarachchi.
During the Fellowship, Dr Mallawaarachchi will develop specialist skills in the following procedures:
• Y90 SIRT
• TACE
• MWA Liver Lesions
• IRE Liver Lesions
• Biliary Intervention
• Chemosaturation
• Portal vein / Hepatic vein embolization.
• Basic IO skills eg. Biopsy, Drainage and Line/Port insertions
• Major Trauma
• TIPSS/BRTO
• Paediatric HPB IR
• Emergency Angiography/Haemorrhage Control
• Cryoablation
In addition, there will be ample opportunities to learn and perform ablation with 2 full day GA ablation lists encompassing MWA, IRE and Cryoablation for liver, lung, kidney, adrenal, bone and soft tissues tumours.
At both sites, as well as Interventional Oncology, the IOUK Fellow will also be exposed to Portal Hypertension management (TIPSS/BRTO), Portal/Hepatic vein embolisation eVLD, Uterine Fibroid Embolisation, Prostate Embolisation, Major Trauma and Haemorrhage control.
The IOUK Fellow will be expected to produce a piece of research (potentially conducted across both sites) to be submitted to an international meeting, the research will also need to be presented at IOUK.
The IOUK Fellowship is industry-funded, via BSIR. The 2025-2026 fellowship has been sponsored by BVM, Boston Scientific, Macromed and a donation from The Jean Ratcliff Prize fund, with support from Terumo.
