Background of acute medicine & clinical investigation unit. I joined IR 13 yrs ago as band 5, I took every opportunity to enhance & extend my skills and naturally progressed into central vascular access. I have further developed education wise to level 7 (which I found incredibly challenging!) and have been an advanced clinical practitioner for the past 5 years. Alongside Sarah Locker we lead central vascular access and ascitic drain insertion in IR and support the trust & wider ICB. I love working in IR and I am proud of what I have achieved.
I am an experienced IR Advanced Practitioner with 4.5 years of experience at a major London teaching hospital. I perform a range of IR procedures including ultrasound-guided biopsies, drainages, central venous access, enteral feeding tubes, nephrostomy exchange and diagnostic IR procedures. As Vascular Liaison, I manage the IR vascular service, including running pre-operative and follow-up clinics for all day cases. I scrub and assist the radiologists with complex cases, and review and discharge patients from our day unit, the wards or in clinic.
Beyond clinical practice, I am actively involved in departmental research and clinical trials, and serve as a guest lecturer and examiner for the London South Bank University IR Postgraduate Certificate program.
