Society Awards
The British Society of Interventional Radiology presents awards to honour individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation, service, or achievement in Interventional Radiology.
BSIR Gold Medal - established in 2001, the Gold Medal is a prestigious honour presented to members whose exceptional contributions, leadership, or service have made a significant and lasting impact on interventional radiology in the UK. It specifically recognises outstanding dedication, excellence, and commitment to advancing the Society and its mission.
BSIR Distinguished Fellow - established in 2025, acknowledges notable achievement within UK interventional radiology. It highlights important professional accomplishments and meaningful contributions to the advancement of interventional radiology nationally.
BSIR Honorary Fellow - recognises longstanding commitment to supporting interventional radiology in the UK by someone who is not a member of the BSIR.
By recognising individuals who embody the highest standards of the profession—through research, innovation, leadership, mentorship, or community engagement—the Society celebrates a culture of excellence in IR.
These awards serve not only to honour distinguished professionals but also to highlight the values, goals, and aspirations of the Society, encouraging the next generation to contribute meaningfully to advancing the practice of IR.
