Join us for an intensive two day course on the theory and practical application of duplex, pulsed wave, colour and power Doppler techniques in the investigation of the carotid and venous vasculature.
Day two focuses on Venous ultrasound, ultrasound colour duplex imaging of the deep and superficial venous system. This includes a lecture by a vascular surgeon and an opportunity to use a limb phantom for training in ultrasound monitoring of Endovenous laser ablation procedures under the guidance of the surgeon.
Structure:
Theory lectures are supported by practical hands-on scanning workshops, facilitated by our expert faculty.
1. The lectures are designed to cover both the basic principles of techniques and a review of the current state of ultrasound arteriography and venography.
2. The practical workshops provide 1:1 supervised scanning opportunities in small groups, with a range of live models and ultrasound systems.
Topics include:
Haemodynamics and Doppler Ultrasound, Lower limb arteries, Investigation carotid and vertebral arteries, Superficial venous system, Intracranial vasculature, Lower Limb Deep venous system, Upper limb vasculature, Ultrasound imaging in surgery, Aorta and branches, Stent and graft surveillance, Ultrasound monitoring of haemodialysis, Artefacts and errors.
Clinical lectures also include Ultrasound imaging in surgical procedures and an artefacts and errors guide. Specific clinical lectures include:
• Normal vasculature and variants
• Examination protocols

BSET Annual Meeting
Tortworth Court Hotel, Tortworth, Wotton Under Edge, GL12 8HH
26th June 2025 - 27th June 2025
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROGRAMME INCLUDE:
GUEST LECTURES:
• First in man technologies for vascular disease: What have we learnt from the past and what do we still need to learn?
• Cutting edge venous stenting and how to achieve success
• Management of lower limb arterial disease: Where does distal vein arterialisation and personalised anticoagulation fit in?
• When enough is enough: Defining the “no option” foot in the era of extreme limb salvage procedures
• What is an acceptable landing zone for aortic dissection – how do you make one in the acute situation?
DEBATES:
• Nothing has been left behind: Modern endovascular techniques in lower limb revascularisation are no better than stent and plain old balloon angioplasty
• End of the Rainbow: Further developments in endovascular aortic intervention will not be beneficial and open surgery will remain the only reliable and durable solution for areas not currently treated by EVAR
• No time to lyse: Treatment of chronic DVT is the only worthwhile intervention as there is no long-term benefit from treatment of acute DV
