European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR)

The European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) is a voluntary examination designed to evaluate interventional radiologists on the clinical and technical knowledge necessary to carry out safe and effective treatments for patients.

Although the EBIR certification does not replace any national training or licensing, it does help IRs to certify their expertise and demonstrate their ongoing commitment to pursuing a career in interventional radiology.

BSIR endorses and is fully supportive of the EBIR which

-       can be beneficial for career development, whether taken at the beginning of your specialisation or further along in your career.

-       helps employers to be confident in an individual’s knowledge of the content of the European Curriculum and Syllabus for Interventional Radiology.

-       demonstrates the highest standards of care and patient safety, evaluating candidates on their clinical skills, as well as their technical ones.

Remote online-proctored EBIR sittings are held twice per year, with one sitting taking place in spring and the other in autumn.

If you would like to find out more about the EBIR, you can do so here: https://www.cirse.org/certification/ebir/

If you are already preparing for the EBIR, or would like to consider it in the coming year, BSIR is holding an in-person EBIR Preparation Workshop, featuring content on question format, exam evaluation, practice questions and more. This will be free to BSIR Members and more information can be found here https://www.bsirmeeting.org/programme/ebir-workshop/.
