BSIR 2025 Case Study Scholarships

 

 


Opportunity

If you are a Medical Student, Foundation Doctor, Nurse, Radiographer, or Trainee, and have been a member of BSIR for at least 12 months, you have the opportunity to submit a case study for BSIR 2025 and our Annual Scientific Meeting.

By submitting a case study, you will become eligible for a BSIR Educational Award, which will include free registration to BSIR 2025, and up to £400 of financial support to cover economic travel expenses and accommodation for the event. These awards are from a fixed pot of funding and will only be offered to a percentage of the top scoring case studies.



Eligibility

To submit a case study for BSIR 2025, you must be a Medical Student, Foundation Doctor, Nurse, Radiographer, or Trainee, and have been a member of BSIR for at least 12 months.

Case Studies submitted by consultants will be disqualified.



Brief
  • Entrants are asked to submit a case study based on their own experience, using the following title, “Describe a complication or near miss during an IR procedure and what could have been done to prevent it”.
  • The case study should include personal reflections, including the key points, and you may use a maximum of 3 images. (JPEG format)
  • Please adhere to the word count (500 words), do not attempt to exceed it by omitting spaces or adding underscores.
  • Case studies that exceed the word count will be rejected.
  • You may include a reference list at the end of your case study, if appropriate, and this will not be included in the word count.
  • As this is a personal reflection, it is expected that the applicant will be the sole author.


Scoring

Case studies will be scored on the below:

  • Quality of the case study construction.
  • Content of the case study.
  • The relevance to Interventional Radiology.

Please identify whether patient consent and institutional review board approval were granted. If no statement is made, it will be assumed that this has not been sought or given. Off-label use of any devices must be declared.



Notes
  • Successful applicants will have their registration fee for the BSIR ASM 2025 waived, an email with a registration link will be sent to you after your success is confirmed.
  • Successful applicants are expected to arrange and pay for their own economic travel and accommodation.
  • Successful applicants will be sent a BSIR Expenses claim form after BSIR 2025, where receipts can be uploaded for reimbursement of economic travel expenses and accommodation up to £400.
  • All expenses must be claimed within 3 months of the ASM (deadline 31st January 2026).
  • Daily attendance checks will be carried out at the meeting. Successful applicants must register with Abbey each day.


Submission

Case Study Awards exist to enable attendance at the meeting only. There will be no formal presentation of case study submissions at the event. Successful applicants will be offered free registration to attend the BSIR Annual Scientific Meeting, 11th – 13th November, Liverpool. The registration team will be in touch after your case study has been accepted.
