BSIR 2020 Essay Scholarship Award Submission 

BSIR ASM 2020 Essay Scholarship

Please choose one of the following Essay Titles;

  1. Members of the BSIR recently voted in favour of IR becoming a specialty in the UK. Outline how you would envisage the optimal training pathway from medical school to becoming an IR consultant .

  2. Submit an IR case that you have found interesting and explain why it has had an impact on you or a patient.

  3. IR is a relatively young technology driven specialty. Outline the importance of the development of novel IR technologies and therapies, academic research, and IR registries

ELIGIBILITY: Must be either a medical student or foundation doctor (Y1 or Y2). 

BRIEF: Entrants are asked to provide an essay using one of the titles above. Word count: 500 max. References are in addition and do not count towards total word count. Essays that exceed the word count will be rejected

SCORING:

  • Quality of the construction of the essay
  • Content
  • Relevance to BSIR & Interventional Radiology

Notification: 1st September 2020  ( Week beginning ) 

PRIZES:

  • .The 2 best Essays will be published on the BSIR website. 
  • A £300 award towards accommodation and travel to the BSIR ASM 2020 in Glasgow (SEC Campus ) , 2nd -4th December 2020. 
  • Free Registration (funded by BSIR)

NOTES:

  • Successful entrants are expected to arrange and pay for their own accommodation and travel.
  • They will then submit a claim form with receipts, during or after the meeting, for reimbursement by BSIR up to the value of their award.
  • Daily attendance checks will be carried out at the meeting.
