BSIR Subcommittees
Nominations are invited for positions on BSIR Subcommittees, in accordance with Clause 7 of the BSIR Constitution http://www.bsir.org/society/bsir-constitution/
- Appointments will take effect from November 2014.
- Nominations for membership may be made by any full member of the Society.
- Nominations shall be approved by a proposer and seconder.
- The proposer and seconder must have view of candidacy’s manifesto / biographic note before endorsing nomination.
- Election shall be by electronic ballot except that, if the number of nominees equals the number of places available, the nominees shall be deemed duly elected.
- The results shall be formally announced at the AGM.
Duties
Each BSIR subcommittee holds 2 physical meetings a year and 2 or 3 evening web conferences to discuss issues relating to the committee. Each month one committee chair is invited to join the BSIR Officers’ web conference to update BSIR Officers on that committee’s activities. Each committee member serves for four years; two years as a committee member, the third year as committee chair and fourth as outgoing chair to maintain continuity. The chairman will be succeeded in the following years by the other committee members in turn. A new committee member will be elected each year.
A broad description of each committee’s remit is given below. Anyone interested in applying for one of the posts is strongly encouraged to find out more about what the job entails. In the first instance please contact council@bsir.org to be put in contact with the current committee chair.
Registries and Audit Committee - one position
Chair 2013-2014 Dr Fiona Miller
The Registries and Audit Committee plays an active role maintaining and reporting on BSIR registries, developing and refining datasets as well as overseeing governance issues relating to registry data.
Communications Committee - one position
Chair 2013-2015 Dr Doug Turner
The Communications Committee is responsible for communication with the membership and public via the BSIR website and maintaining good links with membership via the website.
Education Committee - one position
Chair 2013-2014 Dr Andrew Edwards
The Education Committee plays an active role in co-authoring and providing advice for relevant College documents, and collaborates in training matters with other special interest groups, at the request of BSIR Council or the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR).
Membership and Rules Committee- one position
Chair 2013-2014 Dr Ram Kasthuri
The Membership and Rules Committee is responsible for constitution and membership issues, assisting in developing standards and is also responsible for organising the SpR scholarship essays.
Scientific Programme Committee- one position
Chair 2013-2014 Dr Ian McCafferty
The Scientific Programme Committee is responsible for planning and producing the scientific programme and for delivery of Annual Scientific Meeting.
Safety and Quality Committee – four positions, Chair (2 years), three committee members
Chair 2013-2014 Dr Iain Robertson
The BSIR Safety and Quality Group are focused on three distinct areas of work; device safety, patient safety and quality improvement through the BSIR QI initiative.

NB
The nomination process will take place from Thursday 24th April to Thursday 29th May, if you are interested in being a nominee please ensure that you e-mail your manifesto / biographic note to your proposer and seconder before they approve your nomination. Manifestos / biographic notes can only be viewed on the website in the voting part of the election process and not in the nomination section.
Please ensure your proposer and seconder have enough time to endorse your nomination before the closing date of Thursday 29th May 2014.
When completing the nomination form please insert a passport / thumbnail size picture to avoid any upload issues.
