THE BRITISH SOCIETY OF INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY TRAINEES ELECTIONS 2022
Nominations are invited for positions on the BSIRT Committee, in accordance with Clause 5 of the BSIRT Terms of Reference.
- Only members of the Trainees section are eligible to stand for election to the Trainees’ Committee.
- They must be proposed by members of the Trainees’ Section of the BSIR but can be seconded by any member of the BSIR.
- Nominations shall be approved by the proposer and seconder.
- The proposer and seconder must have view of candidacy’s manifesto / biographic note before endorsing nomination.
- Election will be by electronic ballot, the winner being the nominee who achieves most votes.
- In the event of a tie, a further vote will be carried out amongst eligible BSIRT Committee members.
- Election shall be by electronic ballot except that, if the number of nominees equals the number of places available, the nominees shall be deemed duly elected. Clause 5, BSIRT Terms of Reference. http://www.bsir.org/bsirt/
The Trainee Committee will meet at least once every six months as well as at the annual BSIR meeting. The Trainee Committee may be convened to meet at other times by the Chairperson.
Appointments will take effect from November 2022.

BSIRT Committee Vice Chair / Members / Representatives on BSIR Subcommittees
Nominations are invited for Vice Chair, seven further members of the BSIRT Committee, who will each sit on one of the BSIR Subcommittees, 4 further members consisting of 1 Foundation Year Doctors and 1 Medical Students’ to assist the committee in meeting its objectives.
BSIRT Vice Chairperson
The term of office of Vice Chairperson is 2 years in total, one year as Vice Chairperson, becoming the Chairperson in the second year.
BSIRT Secretary
Provide support to the Chair and Vice-Chair for organising the meeting agendas and in charge of keeping minutes for all meetings to be checked with the Chair. Helps communication representative promote events via social media.
Registries and Audit Committee - two positions
The Registries and Audit Committee plays an active role maintaining and reporting on BSIR registries, developing and refining datasets as well as overseeing governance issues relating to registry data.

Communications Committee - one position
The Communications Committee is responsible for communication with the membership and public via the BSIR website and maintaining good links with membership via the website.

Education & Research Committee – two positions
The Education Committee plays an active role in co-authoring and providing advice for relevant College documents, and collaborates in training matters with other special interest groups, at the request of BSIR Council or the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR).

Membership and Rules Committee - one position
The Membership and Rules Committee is responsible for constitution and membership issues, assisting in developing standards and is also responsible for organising the SpR scholarship essays.

Scientific Programme Committee - one position
The Scientific Programme Committee is responsible for planning and producing the scientific programme and for delivery of Annual Scientific Meeting.

The BSIR Safety and Quality Group are focused on three distinct areas of work; device safety, patient safety and quality improvement through the BSIR QI initiative.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity committee (EDI) (formerly known as Women & Diversity Committee) – one position
The Women and Diversity committee is responsible for promoting equality of access to a career in IR. Identify methods to reduce barriers to recruitment to IR and support doctors to overcome such barriers. Inspire and encourage students and doctors of all backgrounds to pursue a career in IR.

NB
The nomination process will take place from Monday 6 June to Friday 1 July, if you are interested in being a nominee please ensure that you e-mail your manifesto / biographic note to your proposer and seconder before they approve your nomination. Manifestos / biographic notes can only be viewed on the website in the voting part of the election process and not in the nomination section. Please note proposers must be members of the Trainees' Section of the BSIR but can be seconded by any member of the BSIR.
Please ensure your proposer and seconder have enough time to endorse your nomination before the closing date of Friday 1 July 2021.
When completing the nomination form please insert a passport / thumbnail size picture to avoid any upload issues.
